OWL Wrapped: 2025's Most Popular Managers

In classic Spotify Wrapped tradition, this week we’re spotlighting the managers that were the most popular on OWL in 2025. The two tables below show a selection of the most popular public and private managers on OWL. Our users received more comprehensive lists in Friday’s OWL Insights newsletter:

Looking more closely at the 500 most popular managers on OWL in 2025, roughly a third of them are based in NYC, another third are in the other cities listed below, and the rest are distributed across 100+ additional cities. While NYC was unsurprisingly dominant, we were surprised at how dispersed the rest of the list was: 

Given that many of the managers in prior tables are fairly large, we also looked at the most popular managers with AUM <$1 billion:

 In July, we introduced AI-powered manager tags, powered by LLMs and OWL’s unique data. Using those tags, we can also see which types of managers generated the most additional interest in 2025 compared to 2024, giving us an indication of 2025 focus areas:
