Steve Mandel’s son launches a fund (and other new ADV filers)
Using OWL data to identify small and emerging managers
In May, we highlighted a group of managers who had recently filed an ADV for the first time. This week, we refreshed that analysis to spotlight another set of managers with first-time disclosures filed in the last few months. On Friday, OWL users received a list of 25 first time ADV filers and we’ve included a few of those below.
These disclosures are one of several data sources that provide OWL users with unique and timely profiles of small and emerging managers. Other examples include new 13F filings and OWL’s unique team change alerts, both of which can be used to find interesting managers before they are discovered by others.
One new ADV filer that caught our attention was Fremen Capital Management, led by Benjamin Mandel. Based in Stamford, CT, the long/short equity fund disclosed $146 million in assets recently. While there’s not much public information yet about the fund, we did confirm that Benjamin is Steve Mandel’s son.
Here are a few additional first-time ADV filers that caught our eye. If you would like to learn more about how to track new managers using OWL, reach out.
